4 weeks until you move . . .

  • You will need to consider what needs to be done to ensure that utilities will be turned off at your old home and connections established at your new one. Make arrangements for the utilities to be disconnected the day after you move out of your old home and the connections to be established the day before you move into the new home. If you have paid any "last month" deposits, remember to request your refund.
  • If you are going to move yourself and use a moving truck, have the truck rental reserved.
  • If you have decided to pack your home yourself, purchase packing materials. You can now begin to pack. Start by packing only the items that you will not need until you are moved into your new house. (See Packing Tips)
  • You'll want to be sure to leave the old home perfectly clean. Arrange for any repair of drapes, carpeting, or paint.
  • If your pets or plants will require special transportation, make the arrangements at this time.
  • Be sure you find out if you insurance company will cover your possessions while being transported.
  • If travel plans are necessary for you move, please make travel arrangements at this time.
  • Find out if any moving permits will be required.
