2 weeks until you move . . .

  • Now that your moving sale was a success, you will need to make arrangements to dispose of any unwanted items that didn't sell.
  • You may want to consider if your car is ready for the move. If your car is prepared for a warm climate and you will now be living in a cool climate, make the necessary changes to better proof your car for the cold.
  • Items that you have borrowed, such as library books, should be returned. Also make sure to retrieve any items that you have loaned.
  • Cancel the delivery of your newspaper.
  • Make sure to notify any creditors or banks of your new address.
  • If you will be using a new pharmacy, transfer any prescriptions. Check the stock of you currently used prescriptions to make sure you have an adequate supply.
  • Collect any information regarding your old home and create a file for the new owner.
  • During the week prior to your move, send information with your new address to anyone who will need to contact you.
  • Laundry will need to be picked up from the cleaners.
  • Since you will be without direct access to all of your belongings, pack a travel pack. You should include: your checkbook, credit cards, toiletries, a travel alarm clock, plastic cups, paper towels, paper plates, aspirin, and small tools. A suitcase will also need to be packed with personal items and an ample supply of clothing.
